A Hidden Gem in Bali – The Damai Is Pure Perfection Having stayed in many hotels and resorts around the world, I thought I had seen it all. But arriving at The Damai, it quickly became clear that this is no ordinary place – it is the pinnacle of hospitality, luxury, and personal attention. The Damai is a small-scale resort owned by two Danes, and I had the privilege of meeting one of them. We had a long and inspiring conversation, which immediately highlighted the personal and warm atmosphere that defines this place. With only 15 luxurious lodges, The Damai feels intimate, exclusive, and meticulously cared for. From the moment you enter, you notice the attention to detail in every corner – the ambiance, the finish, the comfort. But what truly sets this place apart is the team. The staff are not only highly trained and professional but genuinely kind, interested, and service-oriented. You don’t feel like a guest – you feel like part of a family. The culinary experience is of a level rarely encountered, especially in such a remote setting. The kitchen is trained by Michelin-star chefs, and it shows in every dish. Food lovers will be in absolute heaven. The Damai achieves what so many try but few truly master: they don’t just offer a stay – they create an experience you’ll never forget. One that touches you, lingers, and calls you back. Many try to offer a familial atmosphere, but at The Damai, it feels genuine, natural, and unmatched. An absolute must for anyone seeking a unique blend of luxury, peace, world-class cuisine, and heartfelt hospitality.

We arrived using The Damai airport pick up driver therefore we were collected in a beautiful car with drinks and cold towels from the airport. The reception team were therefore expecting us at 1045pm and were able to check us in quickly and even arrange for some dinner to the dropped to the Villa. The Damai itself is a paradisical place set in Lush Gardens with the most attentive staff one could ask for. The team go above and beyond to make sure everyone's stay in special including learning all guest names, dietary requirements, likes/dislikes etc. The attention to details in the rooms/villa were excellent. We were staying in the Master Pool Villa (Umar Ratu) therefore we had the beautiful infinity pool from most of the promo shots one sees for this hotel. The decoration, the outdoor decking and pool were maintained multiple times per day so the place looks perfect 24/7. Finally I would highlight the food at the Damai - each breakfast is a special occasion and the dinner menus/cocktail menus are outstanding (be willing to be pay a premium for such cooking if you can). I believe this to be the best resort in Lovina and so do the locals down on Lovina beach !

We stayed 3 nights in the Damai, in one of the villas with private pool. The accommodations were truly fantastic and the domain is very well maintained. When entering the lobby, the first thing you see is the open swimming pool with an amazing view, located near the bar and restaurant. After check-in we were guided to our room, an amazing villa with private pool and with full privacy garden. The room is nice, very clean, with an outdoor shower and bath. They staff cleans the room every day, and comes by multiple times a day, to open the window covers in the moring (when you're at breakfast), clean and make up bed, close the covers in the evening and prepare bed for sleep, or bring fresh fruits. Overall the staff of the Damai is so friendly and welcoming, the restaurant serves great food and breakfast. This was truly a remarkable stay and I would definitely recommend staying in the Damai if you're looking for rest and calmed. Thank you, I would really like to come back one day.

The Damai is our favourite place to stay in Bali, and we stayed at some great places. The room was beautifully presented, the private pool was outstanding and we had uninterrupted views down the lush green valley to the coast. The staff looked after us like family and the Balinese dancing lessons for the local school children on the entrance steps were such a wonderful introduction to the local culture. The location is wonderfully serene and quiet, you can't help but relax. The restaurant by the reception pool is superb, albeit expensive by Balinese standards but worth it. The breakfasts were also outstanding. Buy the Damai cookbook, there's a copy on the coffee table at reception but it's not obvious you can buy it unless you ask. We used the shuttle to the local beach and some other restaurants as well, Lovina is a lovely little place without the crowds and pressure to buy that you get in the south of the island.

A fabulous hotel consisting of charming villas set in a lush tropical garden. The pool area is delightful, with stunning views of the surrounding landscape and complimentary towels available for guests. The entire property is spotless and impeccably maintained, with top-notch service from the entire staff. We enjoyed a wonderful massage that ended with tea and pure relaxation. Nothing is left to chance here. Breakfast was fantastic—three very different dishes, each one bursting with flavor. Until 6 PM, the hotel offers complimentary transport to Lovina or the beach, which was a great bonus. We originally planned to stay two nights but ended up staying eight nights - and we do not regret a second of it. A truly unique experience—yes, it is pricey, but absolutely worth it. We are already planning to return some day. Jesper and Trine, Denmark
